Kathmandu · Technology partner for monasteries and Buddhist institutions

Helping monasteries and the Dharma
find their place online

ཆོས་ཀྱི་ཤེས་རིག་ཨང་རྟགས་ལག་རྩལ་དང་མཐུད་པ།

We build monastery websites, turn Tibetan teaching recordings into searchable text, and design mobile apps for monasteries and Buddhist institutions, such as our traditional Tibetan calendar app. We know the technology, and we know how monasteries actually run.

How the three fit together

One teaching, from recording to website and calendar

The monastery hands us the recording once. Transcription, review, publishing and Tibetan dates all work from the same content, with no files passed back and forth between vendors.

  1. Recording

The monastery uploads a teaching or puja recording. We clean up the audio and mark timecodes by passage.

  2. Bilingual transcript

AI produces the Tibetan transcript and a Chinese translation. A Buddhist-studies editor checks terms and meaning passage by passage.

  3. Published on the website

The reviewed transcript and subtitles go into the teachings section of the monastery site, where they can be searched and cited.

  4. Tibetan dates

Puja schedules and teaching records carry Tibetan dates in the monastery's own system (Phugpa or Tsurluk), using the same calculations as our calendar app.

How we work

Monasteries trust us with their texts, lineage and teachings. These are the three rules we follow.

Real sources, always cited

Texts, lineage histories and background on the site are sourced, and published only after the monastery provides or approves them.

The content stays the monastery's

The monastery can edit or remove anything at any time. Domains, accounts and data are registered in the monastery's name.

AI drafts, people review

A model produces the first draft of every transcript and translation, then a Buddhist-studies editor checks it passage by passage against a dedicated term glossary. It is never raw machine translation.
